How I Found a Housecleaning Service for my Gotham West Apartment

I truly love my home at Gotham West. I live alone in a spacious and comfortable one-bedroom apartment. The problem is that I’m just too lazy to do the housecleaning myself. I mean seriously, who has time for that?

Vacuum cleaning the furniture and carpet is just not my thing. I don’t like polishing the oak floors, or washing the giant windows. The large L-shaped kitchen is something that I can’t do without since I love to cook, but cleaning is a different story.

I admit I’m a slob. So when looking for a housecleaning service, I want to make sure that they are reliable and thorough. Here are some things I consider:

  1. How good are their references? I check all references to make sure that they actually leave a home clean after they do their job. Some cleaners use equipment that doesn’t really work that well. And of course, they should provide the services you need.
  2. Can they be trusted? Letting someone you don’t know into your home can make you anxious. The cleaning service should screen their employees properly and put your mind at ease.
  3. Do they have insurance? There’s a running joke in New York that lawsuits are an everyday occurrence. It can be a legal mess if the cleaners break something valuable in your home, or they get hurt. So you really need a cleaning service with insurance.
  4. Can the same person do the cleaning every time? It’s already a risk when you have a stranger come in to do the cleaning, but having different strangers each time may be too much.

As for me, the entire process was actually quite simple. I just asked the concierge in my apartment building, and they arranged for everything. I now have a great cleaning service at a great price. As a single guy living alone, that’s the kind of efficiency I love and appreciate. Thank you, Gotham West!
